Lecco is on the far southern tip of Lake Como, in a narrow strip of land almost level in the basin formed by rocky mountains. The city offers many opportunities to visit: the beautiful Basilica of St. Nicholas, dedicated to the patron saint of sailors, Piazza XX Settembre, the old market square, narrow and irregular, lined by arcades on it facing balconies with elegant buildings bourgeois and ornate windows.
The territory of Lecco is a place where you set one of the most important novels in Italian literature, "The Betrothed" by Alessandro Manzoni. Still survive, and you can visit some of the places mentioned in the novel: the villages of Pescarenico and Olate where Renzo and Lucia lived and where is the convent of Fra Cristoforo, the residence of Don Rodrigo, a short distance, the castle of the Innominato (Unnamed).
