 Varenna

Varenna is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Como, the town's historic center has an enviable panorama: in front of the village depart the three branches of the lake and the view stretches from green promontory of Bellagio to the most distant towns of Menaggio and Cadenabbia. Varenna is a picturesque village characterized by a row of low houses, sometimes with frescoes or coats of arms, leaning against each other and reunited with typical arches, by long and narrow lanes that fan out and descend steep, straight towards the lake.
Very impressive is the walk to the lake that allows you to enjoy every corner of this beautiful town: among the monuments we mention the beautiful Romanesque church dedicated to Saint George, decorated by a fresco depicting Saint Christopher on the front.
In Varenna there are also prestigious historic residences, as Villa Cipressi, neoclassic style, so called because in the garden there are secular cypresses, and Villa Monastero, one of the most interesting examples of eclectic style residence, a building of great dramatic impact and symbolic value.
Interesting is a visit to the Castle of Vezio, which offers spectacular views across the central part of the lake.
