Garda

The bay of Garda is a jewel dominated by the blue lake and lush Mediterranean vegetation. To the north the gulf is closed from Mount Luppi, while to the south lies the hill of Rocca: through a steep path you can climb in the green to get to enjoy the breathtaking views. On the Rocca, during the Middle Ages, stood the castle of Garda, so important to ensure that the lake changed the name from the latin Benacus to the current Lake Garda.

The ancient village is worth a visit: interesting are the gothic buildings of the lakeside, the beautiful Palazzo del Capitano del Lago, where at one time met the guild of fishermen, and the church of Santa Maria in whose bell tower, in 1571, were walled fragments of Lombard and Romanesque sculptures. In the surroundings there are very beautiful villas, among which the famous Villa Albertini-Becelli where Charles Albert (king of Sardinia from 1831 to 1849) received the Delegation of Lombardy in 1848, that gave him the act of annexation to his kingdom.
