The lake has an area of 18.2 square kilometers, stretching from north to south for 13.4 km and a maximum width of 2.5 km. The lake is 290 m. above sea level and reaches a depth of 143 m. At the northern end, where there is Omega, it flows the only outlet, the Nigoglia, curiously directed towards the North (if only one of the emissaries of the pre-Alpine lakes), where its waters join those of the Toce falls into the Lago Maggiore.
