Lake Garda offers its visitors not only sun-drenched beaches and beautiful mountains, but also many towns and villages full of charm, where to find traces of history, passed down to us through the centuries, like palaces, churches and religious buildings.
We make three examples, covering 2000 years of history: in Sirmione there are the remains of a Roman villa known as the "Grotto of Catullus" (the Latin poet born in Sirmione in 84 BC). This is the most grandiose noble building of the whole northern Italy. In Gargnano, in Upper Lake Garda, there is Palazzo Bettoni, designed in the late eighteenth century, one of the most beautiful villas of the lake, topped by a beautiful balustrade and numerous statues, famous for the citrus garden. And then, the Vittoriale degli Italiani, the monumental town that the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio staged and lived in the 30s in Gardone Riviera, an extraordinary and irresistible collection of buildings, streets, squares, theaters, gardens, parks and waterways, which still contain an incredible atmosphere.
