Melide is a lovely town on the western shore of Lake Lugano: it is famous for the bridge-dam built in the years 1841-1847 which connects the city to Bissone, on the other side of the lake. On the bridge passes the highway, the railroad and the state road, making it important for communication, but you can cross it also by foot, to have a splendid view of the lake.
In Melide tourists will find many points of interest: the beautiful church of Santi Quirico and Giulitta and above the village, the Oratory of the Holy Crucifix are among the most famous religious monuments, but in the streets of the town there are also beautiful old buildings and aristocratic villas. The great attraction of Melide is the Swissminiatur: it is a park with miniatures of monuments in Switzerland, dipped in a beautiful natural landscape that reproduces the most important swiss places of interest.
