Iseo is the town from which the lake takes its name: it is the most important and developed town of the lake, where there are numerous recreational facilities: in addition to the hotels, the promenade on the lake shore is full of nightclubs and restaurants.
From a naturalistic point of view, Iseo is an important place: near the village are in fact the bogs, a marshy area that became a nesting site for various species of birds. In downtown there are also many interesting monuments. In the square of the churchyard stands the parish church of Sant'Andrea, founded in the fifth century and enriched by a bell tower in Romanesque style. In the same square is the church of San Giovanni Battista. On a ridge on the edge of the old town is the Oldofredi castle, dating from the eleventh century. The old town charms for the elegance of the palaces and squares, but Iseo is also a town on the lake, where water sports enthusiasts will find plenty of opportunities for windsurfing, water skiing, sailing and much more.
