Touristic town situated in the point where the river Ticino flows out from lake Maggiore, it is completely immersed in the greenery of the Parco Naturale della Valle del Ticino. The territory offers many naturalistic and historical-cultural ideas that visitors can not ignore.
The most important 'monument' of Sesto Calende is the Sass da Preja Buja, a blue-colored rock found in San Vincenzo, in a clearing at the entrance of the forest: in ancient times probably indicates a very important place of worship. In the town, two churches well worth a visit: one is the Oratorio di San Vincenzo, a small church located north of Sesto Calende, on a grassy knoll, built between the late eleventh century and the beginning of the twelfth century.
