The town of Cannobio has ancient origins, perhaps pre-Roman, it is still possible to see, even if restored, the Roman bridge built by Augustus to merge the two banks of the stream Cannobino separating Traffiume, the most important hamlet, from the rest of the town. Among the other monuments that tell the history of the town, we recall the Santuario della Pieta, rebuilt in 1583 by Charles Borromeo and the Leone, monument overlooking the lake, built in 1889.
The Lido of Cannobio is perhaps the best known and popular of Lake Maggiore, both for beauty and the wind characterizing this area that is recognized as the ideal place for the practice of sailing sports in the Piedmont region. People who love kite-surfing, windsurfing and sailing meet in this area during the summer: the wide beach and adjacent park are beautiful.
