Sorico is an ancient fishing village founded in 1432 after Olonio was once again destroyed by flooding from the river Mera. Its territory extends to include the river Mera, a part of Lake Mezzola and Pian di Spagna, which since 1986 is part of a Nature Reserve. Here, beautiful nature trails will take you to wild angles between lake and mountains in a marshy area where you can see rare animals and pristine landscapes. A Sorico, in place called "La Punta", is the only natural sand beach of Lake Como. Thanks to a path, or a small boat, he can reach the small Romanesque church of San Fedelino, an enchanting place on the river Mera. Near the village, accessible only on foot in about 20 minutes, is the beautiful church of San Miro: from its churchyard you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view over the village and lake.
