Located in a large inlet on the western shore of Lake Como, at the mouth of the Valle d'Intelvi, the town has a mild climate even in winter. Argegno has certainly Roman origins: it is a typical lake village, it is characterized by the mouth of the river Telo, which flows through the medieval town dividing it into two parts linked together by the ancient stone bridge built on arches and that marks the route of the old Via Regina. On the banks of the creek, among the many overhanging buildings, we find the old blacksmith's shop with the mallet, which dates back to 1772 and the old mills that were used for grinding corn and chestnuts. The new part of the country is grouped as the old, but climbs up the slopes of the mountains in search of sun, sights and new spaces. Interestingly, a hike can be done from Argegno with the cable car, which, with a vertical drop of 540 meters, reaches Pigra (881 m) in just 4 minutes. From Pigra you can enjoy a wonderful view over the lake.
